Happy but curious
Ever since I can remember I’ve known that my twin and I were IVF. My mum gave birth to us, but both my parents had problems with fertility, so turned to treatments. I have never felt that they weren’t by real parents; they’ve raised me, loved me, taught me, and been overall amazing.
I don’t even particularly want to know who the donors were. My only wish is that I could know my genetic family’s medical history. With the links between the ‘cancer gene’, especially in breast cancer, I find it quite concerning that I can never know if I have a higher risk than others and should be taking precautions etc.
Overall though, I love my IVF family, and have never wished for anything different.
